TOP 10 COMPANIES WITH THE HIGHEST AVERAGE SALARIES IN SEPTEMBER 2026

€54,982 per month before taxes – that was the average salary recorded by Palantir Technologies Lithuania in September, placing the company first in Lithuania. TechPay Innovations ranked second with €34,779, followed by Greenscreens Europe in third place with an average of €31,192. Only companies with average monthly salaries exceeding €14,800 made it into the TOP 10.

But September's ranking also revealed some unexpected results. Among the companies reporting the highest average salaries were three businesses winding down their operations. One of them dismissed its entire workforce in September. Could these exceptionally high salary figures have been driven not only by bonuses but also by severance payments?

Which Companies Paid the Highest Average Salaries in September?

The technology sector dominates September's TOP 10, although the ranking also includes companies operating in agriculture, trade, and investment. Three companies also appeared in the August TOP 20 – Palantir Technologies Lithuania, TechPay Innovations, and Microsoft Lietuva.

Taking first place, Palantir Technologies Lithuania is part of the US technology company Palantir, which develops data analytics and artificial intelligence solutions. In August, its Lithuanian subsidiary ranked ninth with an average salary of €17,138. By September, it had climbed to first place, reaching €54,982. This was not the first such surge: the company's average salary reached €62,868 in June before dropping to €10,765 in July.

What could explain such significant fluctuations? One possible reason is employee stock-based compensation and substantial one-off payments. The Palantir group makes extensive use of stock-based compensation. It is possible that employees in Lithuania also receive larger amounts of additional compensation in certain months. However, there is no public confirmation of which specific payments contributed to September's result.

In second place was TechPay Innovations, a company operating in software development and IT consulting. It ranked eighth in August before climbing to second place in September. Its average salary increased from €17,147 to €34,779. Such a sharp increase at a company employing just ten people suggests that substantial one-off payments or bonuses may have been involved. In a small team, even a large payment to a single employee can significantly raise the company-wide average.

Third place went to Greenscreens Europe, a software development and publishing company. Its average salary reached €31,192 in September, compared with approximately €8,400 in August. The company is undergoing liquidation and had no employees remaining by October. It is therefore likely that September's figure was boosted by final payments to employees, including severance pay or compensation for unused annual leave. The exact breakdown of these payments has not been made public.

Akola Group ranked fourth. The company manages one of the largest agricultural and food production groups in the Baltic states. In September, the company, which employed 21 people, recorded an average salary of €29,044. Importantly, the ranking reflects the average salary at Akola Group itself, rather than across all companies within the group. A holding company of this kind may employ senior executives and specialists whose compensation differs significantly from the wages paid to production or agricultural workers.

In fifth place was Iconn networks, a software development company with an average salary of €22,898 in September. However, there is a very different story behind this figure. The company is undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, and all 21 employees, most of them programmers, lost their jobs on September 21. These dismissals may have had a significant impact on the company's average salary for September.

Microsoft Lietuva ranked sixth. The Lithuanian subsidiary of the global technology company led the ranking in August with an average salary of €37,454, but this figure fell to €20,255 in September. August's result was influenced by annual performance bonuses paid to employees. This helps explain why monthly average salaries can vary considerably even at major international companies.

Seventh place went to Wolt Services LT, which previously operated Wolt Market grocery stores in Lithuania. Its average salary reached €18,050 in September. The company is undergoing liquidation following the closure of Wolt Market stores in Lithuania at the end of July. The Wolt delivery platform itself continues to operate in the country. As employment contracts were terminated during the store closures, final payments to employees may also have contributed to September's high average salary.

Enable Banking Lithuania ranked eighth. The company develops open banking technologies that allow other businesses to securely access banking data and payment services. With five employees, it recorded an average salary of €17,821 in September. The small team and compensation paid to highly skilled technology specialists may help explain the high figure, although the exact breakdown of September's payments is unknown.

Ninth place went to Digital Retail Development, which recorded an average salary of €16,045 in September. The company employed eight people. Without more detailed information about their roles and the composition of their compensation, it is difficult to determine whether this average reflects regular salaries or additional payments.

Completing the TOP 10 was Alwark Group, a holding company associated with the machinery and equipment sector, employing four people. Its average salary reached €14,890 in September. As with Akola Group, it is important to distinguish between employees of the holding company itself and those working across the wider group. A small team of executives and specialists may have a considerably higher average salary than other companies within the group.

High Salaries and Employee Turnover: What Do September's Figures Reveal?

Employee turnover rates vary considerably among the companies in September's TOP 10. This time, however, some of these differences may be explained not only by salaries or working conditions but also by changes in the companies' operations.

The clearest example is Wolt Services LT, which recorded an employee turnover rate of 135% over the past 12 months. The company discontinued its Wolt Market store operations, meaning the high turnover rate may be directly linked to the elimination of jobs.

A similar situation can be seen atIconn networks. The bankrupt company recorded an employee turnover rate of 50.5%, while all 21 employees were dismissed in September. This illustrates why the turnover percentage alone does not tell the whole story. A high rate may reflect not only frequent employee departures but also the closure of a business.

Meanwhile, Palantir Technologies Lithuania and TechPay Innovations, which occupied the top two positions, recorded employee turnover rates of 33.4% and 33.8%, respectively. The figure was lower at Microsoft Lietuva, at 15.6%, while Enable Banking Lithuania and Alwark Group recorded zero employee turnover over the past 12 months.

Company size is another important factor. Eight of the ten companies in September's ranking employ no more than 13 people. In such small teams, even a few employee departures can significantly affect the turnover rate.

September's data therefore points to an interesting conclusion: a high average salary and a high employee turnover rate can sometimes share the same underlying cause – employee dismissals and the payments associated with them. This is particularly relevant for companies undergoing bankruptcy or liquidation.

What Else Should You Check Before Applying for a Job?

If a company in the ranking catches your attention as a potential employer, it is worth checking how its salaries have changed over recent months, whether its workforce is growing, what its employee turnover rate looks like, and what salaries are offered in specific job advertisements. Employee reviews can also provide useful insights into workloads, management, and the overall working environment.
