The National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art, established in 1945, is an educational institution that provides arts education alongside primary, basic, and secondary education. It nurtures talented Lithuanian children preparing to study at higher education institutions in Lithuania and abroad to become professional musicians, visual artists, and ballet dancers. Art education begins in first grade, including design, sculpture, painting, and graphics. Music education also starts in first grade, covering piano, choral singing and conducting, string, wind, and percussion instruments. Ballet training begins in first grade, and graduates are awarded the qualification of a ballet artist.
