AB "Klaipėdos energija" is one of the oldest Lithuanian energy companies, which grew from 1929. coal-fired power plants were built on the bank of Dane. At that time, it was one of the most modern power plants in Lithuania. Severely damaged during the Second World War and rebuilt after the war, the thermal power plant is successfully operating to this day. For many years, the Klaipėda power plant was the main supplier of electricity in Western Lithuania, and in 1959 After Klaipėda was connected to the common Lithuanian energy system, the main task of the company became the supply of centralized heat to industry and residential buildings. As the city and its energy needs grew, several more boiler houses were built in Klaipėda, and all heat producers were connected by trunk networks.
