AB "Achema", the largest producer of nitrogen fertilizers and other industrial chemical products in the country and the largest factory of its kind in the Baltic States, was founded in 1965. The main activity of the company is the production and sale of nitrogen fertilizers, liquid fertilizers for indoor and outdoor plants, ammonia, nitric acid, formalin, KF resins, carbonic acid, oxygen, nitrogen, basic aluminum sulfate solution. The company employs over 1,300 people. Annual fertilizer production is about 2 million tons.
