French-owned renewable energy company Idex Baltic is the largest independent heat producer in Lithuania. The company owns five biofuel boiler houses and one cogeneration power plant in Vilnius and Kaunas, which together produce about 10-15 percent of the heat energy needed by the Lithuanian district heating sector per year. The biofuel used for the company's heat production allows for a reduction in CO2 pollution and gas imports.
