The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania is responsible for shaping state energy policy, with the goal of ensuring secure, reliable, sustainable, and accessible energy. The Ministry focuses on building an efficient, resilient, and future-oriented energy sector. Key priorities include strengthening Lithuania’s energy independence, expanding renewable energy, and driving innovations to create a modern and advanced energy system. The Ministry was established in 1990 after Lithuania restored its independence. In 1997, its functions were transferred to the Ministry of Economy, and in 2009 the Ministry of Energy was re-established to meet the evolving needs of the energy sector.
