It is no surprise that information technology is one of the fastest-growing sectors in Lithuania and worldwide. Both local and international companies in the IT sector look for specialists using English terms. Sometimes, when reading job titles, questions arise: what exactly does a certain IT specialist do? Below, we present the most common professions related to the IT sector:
Front-end developer – responsible for everything the user sees (design, slicing, certain programming languages). Main languages: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Core tasks: ensuring smooth user experience on the website, analyzing code and design, fixing errors.
Back-end developer – works with servers and how the system functions. Their main task is to ensure system functionality, responsiveness, data transfer, and loading speed. Common programming languages: Java, PHP, Ruby on Rails, Python, and others.
Full-stack developer – works with both back-end and front-end. They usually know HTML, JavaScript, CSS, plus one or more back-end languages. They don’t write all code themselves but often spend more time focusing on either back-end or front-end development.
User Interface (UI) designer – focuses on usability and user experience. Their goal is to make interaction simple and effective, based on user needs. They must understand user psychology and apply it when designing websites or applications.
User Experience (UX) designer – aims to make software more comfortable, intuitive, and pleasant to use. They ensure efficiency and functionality, relying on surveys, market research, structured data, and a deep knowledge of the target audience.
